Traditional Ligurian wine

How Vermentino arrived in Liguria is, decades later, at the centre of a debate between experts. There are those who say from Aragon in Spain, but then the story of the “brother” (at least for the DNA) Pigato would also have to be changed. Be that as it may, in Liguria, since the Middle Ages, Vermentino (a clone of Malvasia, according to scientists) has found an ideal habitat, both in the East and, mostly, in the West, between Albenga, Andora, Diano Marina, Imperia and Sanremo.

Western Liguria

And it is here in the West that we of the Azienda Agricola Ramoino have our vineyards which produce the Vermentino Doc, one of the areas where the soil, the air, the wisdom, in short, the terroir changes the characteristics of the original vine variety, it limits its aromaticity and “tames” it, making it a wine with a fruity but not cloying aroma, sapid, structured, eclectic, capable of being an excellent aperitif without clashing if you want it as the protagonist, throughout the meal, of a dinner with Ligurian fish dishes and vegetables.

For three generations

In addition, our Vermentino of the I Tipici line has the great tradition of our family which, for three generations now, has its own Vermentino vineyards in the areas best suited to the highest quality of the grapes, with vineyards overlooking the sea, where they can absorb the hints of saltiness and iodine, of the joy and light-heartedness of youngsters on the beach. A cheerful wine, ready to live the summer, but surprising in the winter at a table shared with friends.
