Bosso
Bosso distillery has been producing high quality grappa for over five generations, using grape pomace from Piedmont vines.
The distillery follows the traditional discontinuous method using copper stills, which requires an old battery system set at very low pressure for a long time. Through this process, our products can reach the best quality standards.
The distillery is based in the historic factory in Cunico (Asti), where about 300,000 bottles are produced every year. There is also an aging cellar which contains about 1,000 hectolitres of grappa, including a few bottles aged for over 40 years.
PRODUCTION
All Bosso production takes place in the same factory: here, selection of the best grape pomace, distillation, aging and bottling follow rigorous quality protocols.
Traditional discontiunuous distillation takes place in the traditional plant, which consists of two battery system sets of six copper stills and direct steam. Production is characterised by a long lead time and limited quantity in order to obtain the most aromatic and flavoured grappa.
Through these procedures, we can now distill up to 5,000 tons of grapes, equal to about 10,000 hectolitres of grappa. Thanks to our thorough and consolidated experience and to our direct control over the whole production process, Bosso distillery can also offer personalized spirits upon client request.
AGEING
Bosso was one of the first distilleries to believe in the positive effects that long-term ageing could have on grappa, proof of which lies in our 1950 s' Acquavite di Moscato Stravecchia. Ageing of our grappa takes place in Montechiaro d'Asti in the historic building previously occupied by Martini & Rossi. For the ageing process, we use small to medium chestnut, oak and cherry wood tanks.
Thanks to our extensive experience both in grappa ageing and in our search for the best organoleptic combinations between aroma and bouquet, we know how to choose the right type of wood.
Year after year, we monitor our products closely and select the right time to bottle each batch. Our Invecchiata, Stravecchia and Riserva grappas are purely as specified on the label.
