| Vinificazione | We manually harvest the grapes at the right level of ripeness. Once pressed and destemmed, we place them in steel tanks and partly in open tonneaux. Here, the must macerates and ferments on the skins for about 20 days, while simultaneously carrying out the fermentation. |
An indigenous Friulian red with great identity , the Schioppettino di Prepotto DOC 2022 from Ronco dei Pini represents one of the most authentic expressions of the Friuli Colli Orientali , the territory of choice for this rare and historic grape variety.
The name Schioppettino derives from the Friulian term "Scopp," which recalls the characteristic crunch of the grapes when placed in the mouth. Also known as Ribolla Nera , it is the most famous native red grape variety of Friuli. Despite its millennia-old history , in the 1970s the variety risked extinction due to vine diseases such as powdery mildew and phylloxera , but was later revived thanks to the determination of local winemakers.
In the glass, it presents an intense, bright, and deep ruby red color . On the nose, it offers a characteristic and unmistakable bouquet of berries, blackberry, and currant , accompanied by spicy notes of black pepper , floral scents, and light balsamic nuances.
On the palate it is dry, elegant and spicy , with a well-defined structure, fine tannins and a balanced freshness that accompanies a persistent and aromatic finish , faithful to the varietal identity.
Recommended pairings: Roasted red meats, game, braised meats, spicy dishes, and aged cheeses. Also ideal as a meditation wine for those who love regional reds.
