Cantine Capitani

The Cantine Capitani winery was founded in 1974 under the name "Trevignano Vino" in Trevignano Romano. The vineyards grown in the area featured native varietals such as Trebbiano, Greco, Malvasia, Sangiovese, and Montepulciano. The first winery in the area at the time, it produced: Primo di Trevignano, a still white wine; Bianco del Lago, a lively wine excellent as an aperitif; Rosso del Lago, a well-balanced, flavorful wine; and a few years later, it introduced Rosé il Lago, a lively, sweet Sangiovese vinified as a white wine.

In the late 1990s, Trevignano Vino began producing PGI Lazio wines: Merlot, which embodies all the characteristics of the grape variety; Syrah, vinified in stainless steel and boasting its typical spicy notes; Syrah Barricato, whose eight months in oak barrels impart a warm, enveloping flavor; and finally, in 2011, Sauvignon Blanc, a wine with good structure and aroma. In 2009, Trevignano Vino also introduced extra virgin olive oil, a pleasant, delicate oil with the typical flavor and aroma of the local variety. Furthermore, thanks to a meeting with an artisanal distiller just outside Rome, the company released a Sangiovese grape distillate, a smooth and enveloping white wine distillate.

Cantine Capitani is the new name of the company that since 2015 has chosen to recognize the efforts of the same "Capitani" family, who have always believed in the wine and grapes of their lands, so much so that they honor this fruit with their care and dedication, creating increasingly high-quality labels.
