Marchese delle Saline
Marchese delle Saline, with its Etna Bianco and Etna Rosso made from Carricante and from Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio respectively, offers the truest expression of Etna's volcanic wines.
What sets these wines apart comes mainly from the volcanic soils and the microclimate, which lock intense aromas into the grapes. Nerello Mascalese gives reds of real finesse, while Carricante is ideal for a white of distinctive savouriness that gathers all the scents of the sea on the slopes of Etna.
A STORY OF TRADITION AND COMMITMENT
The Marchese delle Saline brand was born in the Trapani area and has its roots in distant times, when grandfather Giacomo moved to the Sicilian countryside in 1860 and began working his first plots in contrada Baiata. Since then, passion, know-how and the love of doing things with heart have passed from father to son, right up to today. In those years, when he was not busy in the vineyard, Giacomo Rallo gathered salt at the Marsala salt pans during the summer. Being so diligent and hard-working, and taking pride in a job well done, he was given the nickname "Marchese". His story and his love for the salt pans later led his grandchildren to honour his memory by naming the estate "Marchese delle Saline".
