Cantine Capitani was founded in 1974 under the name of “Trevignano Vino”, in Trevignano Romano. The vineyards of the winery were represented by native vines such as Trebbiano, Greco, Malvasia, Sangiovese and Montepulciano. It was the first farm of the town to produce wine and in those years were produced: Primo di Trevignano, a still white wine, Bianco del Lago, a lively wine suitable as an aperitif, Rosso del Lago, a wine characterised by a well-balanced taste, and after some years was released Rosè del Lago, a lively and sweet Sangiovese obtained through white vinification. At the end of the 90s, the winery begins the production of Lazio PGI wines: Merlot, in which all the characteristics of the grape are found, Syrah, variety vinified in steel tanks that enjoys its typical spicy hints, Syrah Barricato, to which 8 months of aging in oak barrels give it a warm and enchanting taste, and finally in 2011 Sauvignon, an aromatic and well-structured wine.
In 2009 starts the production of a delicate and pleasant extra virgin olive oil characterised by typical taste and aroma of the local cultivar. Moreover, thanks to the meeting with an artisan distiller near Rome, the production of a brandy of Merlot grapes, a soft and charming white wine distillate, also begins.
Starting from 2015, the new denomination Cantine Capitani has strengthened the efforts of Capitani family who have always believed in wine and grapes of their own lands, so much so that they have honoured this fruit with their care and work, producing increasingly quality wines.
From 2013 onwards, new vineyards were planted, which from 2016 gave the first good grapes intended to make new wines or increase the production of the existing ones; for example, Viognier, grapes often used for blending due to their strong fruity characteristic, and Chardonnay. In 2020 the first bottle of Cesanese d'Affile, harvest 2018, aged in oak barrels for 15 months, is released, thus honouring the native vines of Lazio.

Cantine Capitani celebrates its grapes through the production of different wines. Thanks to the vineyards located in the countryside of Trevignano Romano and just below Mount Rocca Romana, an area considered suitable for the production of high-quality agricultural products, the winery makes wine for all occasions and all tastes. The vines grown on the farm and intended for the wine production, range from the native ones, such as Trebbiano, Malvasia, Greco, Sangiovese, Montepulciano and Cesanese d'Affile, to the International ones such as PGI Lazio Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Viognier, Merlot or Syrah. The wine is entirely vinified and produced in the farm, where it is possible to request guided tours from the vineyard to the production rooms, and be fascinated by the man-machine collaboration in the creation of Bacchus' nectar. The Capitani family will be happy and proud to show the processing techniques and tools necessary for the production of wine, a gift from the lands of a small village on the shores of Lake Bracciano.
