Nero d'Avola DOP Biologico "Tenute del Marchese" 2024 - Marchese delle Saline

The first vineyards of the Rallo family were planted around 1860 in contrada Baiata, in the Trapanese area. Francesco Rallo, the founder of the dynasty, when he wasn't in the vineyard, collected salt in the Saline di Marsala — and for his zeal, hard work, and taste for things done well, his colleagues gave him the nickname Marchese (Marquis). A name that his grandchildren later honored, thus naming the winery. Today, the Rallo family continues this story with the same passion, producing wines that represent the best of western Sicily.

100% Nero d'Avola from 25 hectares of 15-year-old vineyards on calcareous soil at 200 meters above sea level in the Marsala territory. Guyot training system, harvest in September with soft pressing. Fermentation takes place in steel for 30 days at 20-22°C with malolactic fermentation, followed by 8 months of aging in barriques and 2 months in the bottle before release.

In the glass, it presents a ruby red color with vibrant purplish reflections. On the nose, it is fruity and inviting: strawberry, ripe cherry, and black cherry intertwine with delicate spicy notes of black pepper. On the palate, it is fresh, soft, and fragrant, with enveloping and well-polished tannins from the aging in wood, and a fruity and persistent finish that recalls ripe red fruit.

Nero d'Avola in its most accessible and genuine form — one that you happily drink at the table, without ceremony.
