Di Giovanna
When we think of Sicily, we often think of long, sunny expanses. This is not the case at the Di Giovanna winery, an oasis of biodiversity within the Monte Genuardo Nature Reserve. Here, mountain viticulture is practiced, with peak altitudes reaching 850 meters above sea level. The Di Giovanna winemaking tradition dates back five generations. In the 1980s, the family vineyards were consolidated and replanted, when Barbara and Aurelio Di Giovanna began a journey toward a philosophy of quality alongside their sons Gunther and Klaus. Today, the Di Giovanna brothers, expert and passionate, are assisted by Gianfranco Zito, who oversees all winemaking operations.
The Di Giovanna estate comprises 56 hectares of vineyards planted on soil with a high limestone content in the higher areas (850 m) in Sambuca di Sicilia and with a greater presence of volcanic tuff as one descends to the hills of Contessa Entellina (400 m). The vines are trained using espalier systems with spurred cordon pruning. All of the vineyards are certified organic.
Di Giovanna's wines share expressive savory notes and a distinct yet elegant personality. These wines are crafted by artisans and preserve a strong terroir, the heart of the Terre Sicane.
