Intense ruby red with restrained purple reflections. The nose shows intense vinosity, with dominant fruit of cherry, liquorice, plum, violet and blackberry. The palate is dry and persistent, with the tannin of Barbera and a well-balanced acidity that cleans the palate at every sip.

It is the acidity that makes it a true table wine: it cuts through and calls for the next mouthful.

Recommended pairings: hearty pasta dishes, grilled red meats, carpaccio and medium-aged cheeses.

GranCollina was founded in 1890. The passion and winemaking tradition of the Cotto family, now in its fifth generation, is passed on from vineyard to bottle through fine DOCG and DOC wines.

The GranCollina winery seeks to combine the innovation of modern winemaking techniques with the winemaking tradition of the Cotto family.

GranCollina is located a few kilometres from the medieval town of San Damiano d'Asti, in the Terre Alfieri, an area on the border between the Roero and the Monferrato. The Terre Alfieri owe their importance to their position, with soils ideally suited to many crops, above all vines and hazelnuts. The hills on which the GranCollina vineyards lie enjoy excellent sun exposure and, thanks to their slopes and soils, yield excellent, high-quality wines.

The estate has 18 hectares of vineyards and also raises around fifty Piedmontese Fassona cattle, with its own butcher's shop since 1997. In 2001 a passion for hospitality and for the area led to the GranCollina agriturismo, with rooms and apartments in the restored old farmhouse. In 2018 agrichef Milena opened the winery and restaurant in the farmhouse's original barn, where guests can now enjoy wine tastings together with the flavours of traditional Piedmontese country cooking.
