Tenuta Ponte

The name of ``Tenuta Ponte`` is inspired by a bridge built by the Romans during the beginning of the imperial age. This bridge is more commonly known as the “bridge of the devils” as ancient legends tell that the bridge was built in one night by some demons who used it as a meeting place during stormy nights.

The winery is located in Luogosano, on the right side of the valley of the Calore river, whose original settlement dates back to the 2nd century BC, as attested by the discovery of tombs, pottery and work tools, as well as the almost complete presence of the ancient Roman , to which the company was inspired by its name Great Wines.

Tenuta Ponte is the result of strengths, experiences and skills, all put at the service of an idea: the production of great wines.

With more than 25 hectares of land almost entirely dedicated to viniculture, the “Ponte Estate” spreads throughout the territories of the Avellino Province, part of the D.o.c.g. Taurasi wine areas, Fiano di Avellino and Greco di Tufo.

The lands are well exposed to sunlight and characterized by a meek Mediterranean climate, with an excellent dose of humidity. All these elements together with the nature of the soil itself guarantee the best conditions for the production of grapes and wines of great prestige.

The grapes are mainly grown in the estate’s vineyards where there are training systems of the Aglianico, Sangiovese, Merlot, Piedirosso, and Coda di Volpe rootstock and also mixed vine stocks. The varietals are cultivated with the traditional techniques of the zone, renowned as the “vine trellising” system, whereas the younger vines are cultivated with the “cordon spur” and the Guyot pruning methods. The winery produces an extensive range of choice wines, the value of which is guaranteed by faithful adherence to traditional vinification methods, suitably integrated with the use of modern technologies (without changing basic features) having the only constant objective of targeting the best quality.
