Founded almost forty years ago by Giuseppe and Grazia, and today managed by their children, the Sedilesu winery is located in Mamoiada, a small town in Sardinia's Barbagia region (central Sardinia). The area, situated at altitudes between 650 and 850 metres a.s.l., is recognised one of the most suitable areas for the cultivation of Cannonau. At an average altitude of about 650 m a.s.l., in granitic sandy soils, the Sedilesu winery grows approximately 17 hectares of traditionally bush-trained Cannonau vines, between three and hundred years in age, and a small vineyard surface of the white indigenous grape Granazza. The family has always been natural by vocation.
Since their beginnings their farming is organic, applying also methods of biodynamic growing. This approach is also to be continued in the cellars: spontaneous fermentations, medium-long macerations, ageing mainly in large barrels and cement without any clarifications, and a low use of sulfites are the key elements of their winemaking.
