Grapes 85% Sangiovese - 15% Merlot
Vinification The grapes are vinified separately with maceration on the skins in a thermo-controlled environment for approximately 15 days with frequent pumping over for the best extraction of the polyphenolic substances.
Ageing Maturation takes place in steel for approximately 12 months and is bottled no earlier than one year after the harvest.

Color Clear bright ruby red, with violet reflexes
Fragrance Heady, slightly fruity, with hints of black cherries and violet.
Flavor Dry, tangy lightly tannic with good balanced body and lingering aromas. Ready to drink after 18 months from the harvest, can be store and well age for another 8 years and more.
Pairing For its specular softness with tannins not overtaking the main flavors aroma, the SPINETO is a versatile wine. Young and chilled at 50°F well match with fish cooked in oven with potatoes and tomatoes, “caciucco alla Livornese” (an Italian bouillabesse). More mature with truffles dishes, roast meet, BBQ, game and Maremma’s dishes as buglione di agnello, seasoned pecorino and goat cheeses.

The Morellino di Scansano has obtain the DOC appellation in 1978, turned on the DOCG in 2007. Years ago the Morellino was known and drink only locally, when Erik Banti gain his first three glasses on the Gambero Rosso guide and recognitions form the major world guides, wine magazines and newspapers column, the Maremma terroir became a “must” for many Italian wine producers who decided to establish their quarter in this unique area and the Morellino started to be known and appreciate for his peculiar quality worldwide. Still now Erik Banti’s winery, established since 1981, is considered to be the “Pioneer” of the Morellino di Scansano. 


 

Erik Banti established his winery in 1981 in the village of Montemerano and have been from all considered the Pioneer of the Morellino di Scansano. With passion, enthusiasm and dedication he contribute significantly to make known this appellation at that time only locally distributed, in Italy and later on worldwide with significant valuations from the world major wines guides, wine magazines and newspapers column, starting from the 3 Gambero Rosso glasses to the Best Italian Buy of Wine Spectator.
